So, in order to use the busybox available on the unit it is only needed to login over telnet after the boot and kill this daemon telnet nas_ip The reason for this limitation is that there is a running daemon that disables telnet after a small interval, probably in sake of security. This enables us to have some control over the unit. The first problem was accessing the device through terminal, but soon I found a solution to it on a reviews site ( ).ĭespite terminal access through ssh or telnet being missing on the device, during the first minutes after boot we actually are able to use telnet. Having used the optware package manager in some of my last “playgrounds”, I soon decided to try using it. This lead me to think “what if I install a package manager on this machine?”. Despite NAS m25 being able of running extensions with its stock firmware, there are only a hand full of these (or less :().
